How it works
Swap what you can do for what you need — with verified neighbours nearby. No money, just fair exchanges.
The idea is simple
You need something done. Another member can do it. Instead of paying them, you offer your own skills in return. Points compare the value of each side so the swap is fair — but points are not money. They are a way to make sure both sides contribute equally.
Garden weeding (2 hours)
6 points
Logo design (1 hour)
6 points
Fair swap — 6 points each
Post what you need and what you can offer
Choose a skill you need help with, say how many hours, and write a short description. Then choose one or more skills you can offer in return. The system calculates the points for each side automatically — you never type point values yourself.
Find a match and propose a swap
Browse other members' posts, or let the system suggest matches where your offer meets their need and their offer meets yours. Send a proposal through the site — no phone numbers or external apps needed.
Chat, agree, and arrange
Use private in-site messages to discuss details, timing, and a safe meeting place. When both sides are happy, you both click “I agree to this swap and the Code of Conduct.” The swap is locked once both have accepted.
Do the work and confirm
After the work is done, both sides independently confirm completion. If there is a problem, it goes to admin dispute review. You can leave a review to help others know what to expect.
Understanding points
Points are a comparison measure — they make sure both sides of a swap are fair. Each skill in the catalogue has a points-per-hour rate, set by the community administrators.
How points work
Points per hour × hours = total points for that side. For example, 2 hours of garden weeding at 3 points/hour = 6 points.
A fair swap
Both sides must have equal total points before a swap can be agreed. If they do not match, the system suggests how to balance them — add more hours or another skill.
Points are not money
Points cannot be bought, sold, transferred, or withdrawn. They are simply a fair way to compare the value of two sides of a swap.
Projects
Some goals are bigger than a single swap. A project lets you break a goal into several tasks, each with its own skill requirement and fair swap. For example, “Help improve our community garden” might include weeding, painting a fence, planting, and making a simple website — each done by a different neighbour with their own agreed swap.
You only commit to the tasks you explicitly agree to. The organiser offers their own skills in return for each task. Project progress, updates, and optional photos are shared with participants only.
Important things to know

- Some skills — like regulated trades or work with children — are disabled at launch for safety reasons. See our Safety page for details.
- You can only see and interact with other verified members who live within five miles of Frome town centre.
